Prince William and Kate Middleton Engaged!

After an eight-year off-and-on relationship, the wait is finally over for Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton. The two are set to wed next year in what will surely be one of the great weddings of the modern age.

According to an old friend of the couple, “Everyone is absolutely delighted.  He has never had eyes for any other woman since Kate came on the scene.  She is going to make a wonderful wife, a wonderful princess.”
The Prince of Wales proposed to his bride-to-be, Kate Middleton, with Princess Diana’s engagement ring while on a 10-day safari in Kenya in October.
“Africa is my second home,” Prince William explained when questioned on the significance of his proposal destination.  “This place will hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life.”
The couple, both 28, first met as students at the University of St. Andrews in 2001, and began dating within a year.  Less than two years later, the two moved in together in an apartment with other students, and then later in a farmhouse on the edge of northeast Scotland’s fabled golf destination.
In 2006, Middleton joined the rest of William’s family to attend his graduation from the military academy, marking the first time she was a guest of his at an official royal engagement with the Queen.
When Prince William and Kate Middleton get married in either the Spring or Summer of 2011, in London, they will have a lot to live up to – that is, the “wedding of the century” between Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, William’s parents.  A congregation of 3,500 witnessed the royal ceremony on the morning of July 29, 1981, while an estimated 600,000 lined the streets of London and a global audience of 750 million tuned in on TV.
After their marriage, the couple will love in north Wales, where Prince William will continue serving the Royal Air Force.
